It has been wonderful to escape from reality and just look at everything else living around me for once, the nature trails are great, the river peaceful, the moon was out and looking at it through the telescope was amazing!

Trails at Ratcliff Recreational Area

Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area, just 25 miles from Fair Breeze Cottage, surrounds around a beautiful 45-acre lake. Facilities include picnicking, swimming area, concession stand, fishing piers, camping, amphitheater, playground and hiking trails. Ratcliff Recreational area has three trails:

  • Tall Pines trail, a 1½ mile hiking trail
  • Trail Tamers trail, a ¾ mile accessible trail
  • The Four C National Recreation Trail, a 20 mile trail which originates in the Ratcliff Recreation Area and goes to the Neches Bluff Overlook.
